How Thrifty Wrench got started
In early 2011, Thrifty Wrench founder Jon Stojan realized that it took days to call around to different repair shops to find the best deal on a repair for his Honda Civic. It was time consuming to give each repair shop his vehicle information, explain the repair needed, and then wait for an estimate. He was pleased to save hundreds of dollars on the repair, but he was frustrated with how long it took to find the best service and price. He thought, “There has to be a better way!” As a result, he built Thrifty Wrench to help others find the repair shop in their neighborhood that offers the best service at a fair price.
Never a conflict of interest
We think it’s important for you to know how we pay for the time and talent that goes into making Thrifty Wrench better. To keep the service free for you, we charge repair shops a small fee to contact you with estimates on the repairs you request. We don’t own any repair shops, nor do we get a percentage of your repair bill or give special treatment to any of the repair shops we work with. We believe this payment structure is the best way to continue improving Thrifty Wrench and providing you with the best service possible.
